Who is Mr Price?

Mr Price is a leading South African cash-based, omnichannel, fashion value retailer, trading in apparel, homeware and sportswear across 9 brands, with over 2700 stores and a robust online offering.

What was the business problem?

Mr Price knew they needed a modern, integrated platform to help achieve their vision of becoming the most valuable retailer in Africa, with high ambitions for the future.

Oracle Supercluster (the server that runs old Oracle Retail versions and legacy applications) was coming to the end of life, their homegrown legacy system was complex, undocumented and outdated, and the IP of those who built the solution was diminishing. Mr Price needed to replace this with a new off-the-shelf solution to support the key merchandise business areas: Merchandising, Stock Ledger, Inventory Management and Sales Audit.

What Oracle Retail solutions have we implemented?

With a global virtual team (Europe, India and the US), working remotely, OLR has implemented Oracle Retail Merchandising Cloud Services with all the key Oracle Retail supporting applications.

What extra value did OLR add to the project?

Mr Price is reaping the benefits of the Merch Cloud features from their new implementation. But as every business is unique, we have added our OLR merchandising accelerator framework to streamline buying processes and enhance further functionality, configuration and integrations to the base Cloud product.

OLR's Buyer's Workbook (BWB) has reduced the time to complete setting up purchase orders by 80% and increased the accuracy by 30% through validating and auto-populating key data.

Our expertise and methodology has been built and refined through years of implementing Oracle Retail and played a major role in the success of the Oracle Retail implementation at Mr Price.

“For a successful implementation of any ERP, a strategic partnership with an SI who is knowledgeable, experienced and who understands your business is crucial – OLR were our chosen partner and managed to lead us through the implementation.”

What was the outcome?

A successful first-time implementation of Oracle Retail Cloud Services.

A seamless transition into sustainable operations and 24/7 support to provide stability for BAU, combined with OLR's automated regression testing service to swiftly onboard all new Oracle Retail SaaS releases and functionality within the mandatory timeframe.

A solid Oracle Retail Cloud platform, combined with Buyer's Workbook (BWB), to enable future growth of both existing and new brands.

Results, next steps & future:

Mr Price is planning the move of MFP onto the cloud version running on the AI foundation, as well as currently implementing the Oracle HCM suite to support their HR services.

In future they are looking to implement further modules from the Oracle suite as they continue to modernise their estate, these may include ORCE (customer engagement) and SIOCS (store inventory management operations cloud service).
