Gordmans Stores is a chain of Midwestern discount department stores in Omaha, Nebraska, which stocks brand name apparel, accessories, footwear, gifts, designer fragrances, furniture and home wares.

Following a decision to expand into under-served markets across central USA, it became apparent that the company's legacy IT systems could not support the planned growth and a new technology platform was required.

With legacy platform restrictions as basic as a hard double-digit limit for store numbering, opening new stores meant Gordmans had to find a proven solution that could both scale to address the company’s long-term plans for growth and deliver the enhanced processes and operating effectiveness required to support a world-class retail organization.

After a thorough selection process, Gordmans opted to move forward with the Oracle® Retail platform. With a reputation for rapid scalability, the solution set included the broad retail functionality Gordmans needed to enhance its capabilities, including core merchandising foundation, inventory management, pricing, retail financials, warehouse receiving, and sales auditing. To guide the business transformation, Gordmans chose OLR as its systems integration and support partner. OLR’s consultants worked with Gordmans internal business and IT teams to clearly map system requirements and tailor a first class solution to support current needs and the vision for the future.

From the start, OLR played a vital role in helping Gordmans achieve its business goals. With a clearly defined yet flexible methodology distilled from years of experience in Oracle Retail programs, OLR offered the tools, collateral, and templates to support a smooth and efficient transition. The engagement spanned Gordmans’ entire initiative, from initial analysis and project scoping to post go-live transition support.

Since the project ‘go-live’, Gordmans has experienced tremendous growth and the store base has expanded by almost 40% in three years.  Gordmans opened their 100th store in June 2015 and is currently underway on a multi-year initiative to bring true omnichannel retailing to the 100 year-old brand. Gordmans engaged with OLR to implement Oracle Retail Xstore Point of Service (POS) and Oracle Retail Customer Engagement Cloud Services.

Oracle Retail Xstore Point of Service will help Gordmans to speed up the checkout process for its guests by enabling a reduction in manual entry for coupons, discounts, promotions and vouchers. Other key advances include the ability to access to real-time inventory levels across both stores and distribution centers. Oracle Retail Customer Engagement can help simplify the tracking and offer redemption associated with Gordmans’ popular gRewards loyalty program.

OLR provides Gordmans with 24x7 assistance through Application Managed Services which allows the Midwest department-store chain the benefit of a sizeable pool of skilled and dedicated professionals to provide comprehensive, cost-effective post-production support for their Oracle Retail solutions. This in turn offers Gordmans increased flexibility to meet changing business and market conditions.
Dave Barrett, CEO of OLR stated, "Since OLR began working with Gordmans over five years ago, we've seen them grow significantly — as a partner it's very rewarding to see our clients succeed. We're pleased that our own growth through the expansion into new practice areas, such as point-of-sale, ecommerce and enterprise applications has supported Gordmans in pursuing its vision of success."
